Das Ex. der Stabi Berlin stammt aus dem Besitz von Albert Cohn (Name auf dem Vortitel). Auf dem leeren Blatt davor folgende Notiz von Cohn: "This vol. is almost unique. A large part of the Humboldt Library having perished in a fire at Sotheby's, the intended sale has never taken place, and all the catalogues, except a few, have been destroyed. I bought the Humboldt Library of Mr. Seiffert to whom H. had bequeathed it, and sold it to Mr. Stevens for 4000 [Pfund] in [Jahresangabe]. A. C." Stenger zititert 1933 in Anm. 32: "Catalogue of the first portion of the Humboldt-Library, Henr Stevens Esq. London 1861, I, A-F." Parker 1963, S. 318-19: "John Bohn prepared this as a sales catalogue for Messrs. Sotheby, Wilkinson & Hodge. Most of the copies were burned in the auction house fire of June, 1865. A few large paper copies were saved and were perfected with a new title (London, 1878). Copies are also known dates 1870 and 1879. The introduction was printes in the January, 1870 issue of the American Journal of Science." siehe auch: Nachdruck, Leipzig 1967/68.
