I have received your letter dated Hamburgh the 28th of August, in which you express much literary curiosity respecting the quipoes in my possession and their probable fate. It is my intention to give them either to the British Museum or to place them in the |sic|  in one of the public libraries of the Universities Oxford or Cambridge where they will immediately be submitted to the examination of those who will be best able to pronounce an opinion respecting them since I am disponed to view them in another light than as a mere curiosity. You will therefore should you visit England next spring have an opportunity of seeing them and it would have given me much pleasure had I intruded to retain possession of them to have acceded to the request contained in your letter I have the honor to remain Sir
