John Pickering an Wilhelm von Humboldt, 13.02.1830

|49r| Sir,

I ask permission to introduce to you, M.r George Haven[a], a young friend of mine, who has for some time past been pursuing his studies, in Philology, at Göttingen, and is now going to visit Berlin. Among the distinguished men of your country, he is naturally very desirous of seeing one of so much eminence as yourself, and whose name is so celebrated as yours in America. I have, therefore, taken the liberty, which is I hope a pardonable one, of giving this letter of introduction to you.

I have the honour to be,
Sir,
with the highest consideration
your very obedient &
humble servant
JnoPickering
