William Marsden an Wilhelm von Humboldt, 07.05.1831

|1*|London (50 Queen Anne S.t)
7.th May 1831

My dear Sir,

Your interesting letter of the 2d April did not reach my hands (I know not from what cause) until the 5.th of this month (avant-hier), & I fear you may have thought me inattentive to your wishes. So obviate such an opinion I trouble you with this line merely to say that I shall endeavour to furnish you with satisfactory answers to your several Queries respeting |sic| the Malayan language & its dialects; but this will necessarily require some little time, & especially as my Books are, for the most part, at my house in the country.

I have the honor to be
My dear Sir, Your faithful humble S.t
Wm Marsden
M. le Baron Humboldt
